Pupil Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

We believe it is unacceptable for children's success to be determined by their social circumstances. We intend to raise levels of achievement for all disadvantaged pupils and to close the gap between disadvantaged children and their peers

(Department for Education)

What is Pupil Premium?

In 2011-12 the Government launched Pupil Premium Funding; this is money given to schools based on the number of pupils in the school who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). From 2012-13, it has been expanded to include all children who have been eligible for FSMs within the last 6 years. In addition to FSM the school may also receive pupil premium for any Looked after children (Children in Care) or Armed forces children.

The Pupil Premium money which Banners Gate Primary school receives in addition to the main school funding is used to address underlying inequalities between children eligible for pupil premium and others by ensuring the funding reaches the pupils who need it most. This targeted support ensures that all of our children are supported in their learning so that they can make the best possible progress.
